Waterproofing

Product Description

Waterproofing is the process of making an object or structure water-resistant so that it remains relatively unaffected by water or resisting the ingress od water under specified conditions. Such items may be used in wet environments or underwater to specified depths.

In construction, a building or structure is waterproofed with the use of membranes and coatings which are water tight. The roof covering materials, sliding, foundations, and all the various penetration through these surfaces must be water- resistant and sometimes waterproof. Roofing materials are generally designed to be water resistant and shed water from a sloping roof, but in some conditions such as in Flat Roofs, the roofing must be waterproofed. There are many types of waterproofing like, bituminous membrane, Cementitious waterproofing, liquid waterproofing membrane, bituminous coating etc.

Waterproofing of wet areas in buildings is important not only to the building but also to the occupants. The aim is to prevent water seepage/penetration that could cause unhealthy and dangerous conditions or loss of amenity for occupants. Waterproofing also extends the lifespan of a building by protecting it from any damages that might be caused by water leakages.

Product Range

Our different range of waterproofing product

APP stands for Atactic Polypropylene. APP is most commonly used waterproofing material on concrete roofs and low-scope roofs. APP is applied using the Torching method. Applications for APP aren’t just limited to Flat roofs.

The bituminous membrane has a thin underside polyethylene burn-off film for easy application.
Top surface finish: mineral granules.

FAQs (APP WATERPROOFING MEMBRANE)

Frequently asked questions

APP stands for Atactic Polypropylene. It’s the most applied method of waterproofing used on concrete roofs.

APP membrane is installed using the TORCHING METHOD. Torching is where a gas burner is used to heat the substrate

Yes, tiles can be installed on the membrane or any other protective method like screeding can be done on top of it, especially if the area has a lot of traffic.

The membrane comes in rolls of 10m*1m*3.5mm which covers 8.8sqm per roll and weighs approximately 45kg-50kg.

APP membrane unlike other waterproofing products is UV protected that means it can be installed and left as it is. For other products its highly recommended to put a protective layer in case they are installed on exposed areas {Roof Top}.

FAQs (SIKATOP SEAL 107)

Frequently asked questions

SikaTop seal is a two-part polymer modified cementitious waterproof mortar slurry comprising of a liquid polymer and a cement-based mix incorporating special admixtures.

7sqm when applied in two coats.

Shake part A{liquid} before using it. Pour half of part A into a mixing container and pour part B slowly while mixing. Pour the reminder of part A and continue until a uniform lump free consistently is achieved. The surface must be pre-wetted to a saturated surface dry condition before application.

As a slurry: Apply the mixed SikaTop seal 107 either mechanically, by spray or by hand using a stiff brush. Applied in the same direction. Apply the 2nd coat of SikaTop seal 107, applied by brush in crosswise direction to the first application as soon as the first coat has hardened.

Yes, SikaTop seal 107 can be used on a flat roof but it must be covered or protected using a protective layer after installation. This is because it does not provide a trafficable finish and also, it’s not UV protected.

SikaTop seal 107 comes in 20kg bag and 5litre jerrican.
The bag is a grey cement while the liquid is white.
